Another FREE tote bag (shipping included)
This time it's the folks at Scotch-Brite who are giving away a reusable tote bag in honor of Earth Day.

Offer is good while supplies last, and only one bag per household.
FREE Earth Day music
Jack Johnson is offering a free, never-before-released single in honor of Earth Day today.
The song, Breakdown featuring Kawika Kahiapo and recorded at the Kokua Festival in Hawaii in 2008, is available to Facebook members here. It instructs you to post an Earth Day resolution, but in all honesty, I went straight to the download, and it worked.
I do love getting free music. and Jack Johnson is a favorite!!

FREE from the USPS
I wonder what took the U.S. Postal Service so long.
The folks who bring all the good freebies to our mailboxes are getting into the freebie giveaway business through their new "Sample Showcase" program (for more information, check out the press release here).
To sign up to have samples of the above products delivered to your mailbox, go here. You will need to answer some marketing questions to qualify -- including the ages of the children living in your home and your average annual income. I figure that's reasonable, since collecting marketing data is, after all, one of the reasons why companies give away products (another is the hope that if you try it, you will buy it). But opinions on that may vary...
Yet another FREE reusable tote for Earth Day
Buy two boxes of Kellogg's cereal (10 oz. or larger) and you can get a free reusable tote for just the cost of shipping ($1.75). You can choose from any of three different styles that feature well-known Kellogg's characters.
To qualify you must include the original UPC code from the boxes, the request form found here and all requests must be postmarked by June 30. The offer is good while supplies last, and while you can order more than one, you can only order one per envelope.
To sweeten the deal, pair the offer with cereal coupons, like the one you can clip here for $1.50 off two boxes of Kellogg's mini-wheats, All-Bran or Raisin Bran.

Free dog collar and leash for your lil' dog
Buy a bag of Hill's Science Diet small and toy breed dog food and you qualify for a free collar and leash (valued at up to $12).
Download your request form here. Requests must include the form, UPC code from the package and the original register receipt. And they must be postmarked by June 15.
The form gives you a choice between a pink with green dots collar and leash, or a green one with dots.
Buy-one-get-one-FREE
I'm not a baseball fan. But I love going to the park and watching a game from the stands. I especially love minor league ball games, where the atmosphere is more intimate and family-oriented.
So I love this deal!! Buy one ticket to a minor league game, and if you present a wrapper from Kraft Singles cheese. The offer is good every Tuesday from now until Sept. 7 in most cities. For more details, go here.
Monday, April 19, 2010

$2 coupon on Brita filters
Get your coupon for $2 off a Brita water filter here. I use mine a lot. It's cheaper than buying bottled water all the time. And in the spring and summer we go through a lot of water -- drinking it straight and making lemonade and iced tea!
$1 coupon for sunscreen
We go through this stuff like water all summer. And coupons are rare. So when I saw that Coppertone has a coupon for $1 off any of its products available on its web site here, I had to share! Click on the box on the lower right of the home page, and you will be directed right to a site where the coupon prints. Be sure that your printer is on, and the ink and paper are full.
FREE photo gifts from ArtsCow
The folks at ArtsCow have loaded seven items, including these customizable photo playing cards, into their freebie "treasure chest." Other available items include customizable multi-purpose cards, business card holder, cufflinks (oval and square), keychain measuring tape and flip-top lighter (valued at $6.99 to $10.99). Use photos of your family or a favorite vacation spot to make unique gifts for family and friends. With Mother's Day and Father's Day coming up, it's great timing.
You can see the whole selection of free items here.
After designing your order, enter the coupon code CHESTGIFTS under credits & discounts. You have until April 20 to enter the coupon code to validate it, but up to 30 days to use it.
You will still have to pay shipping, but what a deal.

FREE office/school/craft supplies
I hesitated to post this one, because while it's a freebie, there is a catch. But I figure I'll let you guys know about it and you can decide if it's worth it or not.
Office Depot if offering 100 percent off nine items (see the list online here):
Bottled water
Photo paper
Post-it notes
Batteries
Writing utensils
Paperclips
Storage boxes
Labels
Legal pads
Now, you can only "purchase" two of each item per day, and the offer is good until April 24. You do need to become a member of their Worklife Reward Club, which you can do for free here.
The catch is, you have to pay for these items upfront, and then Office Depot will load onto your reward club membership a credit for the value, which you can use later on other purchases. So while this is a "free" deal, it's only going to work for you if there are other things you need to purchase at Office Depot.
FREE Kraft mac & cheese
Here's another perk for Facebook fans -- free cheesy explosion mac & cheese from the folks at Kraft.
Fans will get a coupon here for a free box or cup of their new cheddar explosion, cheese explosion or grilled cheese explosion.
While I do prefer homemade mac and cheese, I always have a few boxes of this stuff around for quick lunches or (in a pinch when the grownups are going out) a dinner treat. If I'm serving it for dinner, I often bulk it up by adding cut up hot dogs (four per box, microwaved), lil'l smokies, chopped ham or browned ground beef (half pound per box).

Check out group buying power.
If you haven't already signed up, check out the folks at Groupon to see if they have a group for a city near you. It seems they are branching out of the big cities and, in fact, recently added Hampton Roads to their list (you can join the Hampton Roads Groupon Facebook page here).
Groupon (think GROUP cOUPON) works on the principle of group buying. Each day there is a new deal. But you can only get the deal if enough people sign up for it.

Enter your name and address and the coupon should arrive in the mail in about eight weeks. You can choose from chicken or roasted garlic.

You can either get your free tote by entering their photo contest here, or click the button to get your free tote without entering a photo.
You will have to pay shipping ($1.25 to ship to Delaware), but for a bag valued at $10, I figure it's still a good deal.

Pop corn + cheese + FREE = yum!
Residents of Virginia and 16 other states can request a free sample of Orville Redenbacher's new cheddar cheese popcorn here.
The offer is available to those living in states that have grocery stores in the Kroger family, which includes Ralphs, Fry's, Owen's, Scott's, Baker's and others listed here. Sadly, they don't have any stores in Delaware, so you guys will have to let me know how this one is.
FREE goat cheese
I love this freebie, because for once it's one I don't have to share it with everyone.
Join the Chavrie "Love of Goat Cheese Club" here and you can sign up to get a coupon for a free block of fresh goat cheese. The coupon should arrive in the mail in six to eight weeks.
I love goat cheese. But it's an acquired taste, and only some of the kids like it. I crumble it up and put an ounce in my soup (my favorite: any of the Progressive tomato or vegetable varieties). Or I also like to make this salad with it:
Romaine heart, cut into bite size pieces
Crumbled goat cheese
Sliced or chopped almonds (regular, or my favorite are roasted and salted)
Pear, diced
Raisins
Home-made croutons (optional)
Real maple syrup
Lime juice
Extra virgin olive oil
In a salad bowl, combine in layers romaine, cheese, nuts, fruit and raisins. Drizzle over 1-2 T maple syrup, 1 1/2 tsp-1 T lime juice, 1-2 T olive oil (see note). Just before serving, scatter top with croutons (if using).
Note: You don't want to taste the maple syrup, but you want a hint of sweetness. So I usually start with the lower amount of each of the dressing components, and add to it until the flavor is right.
